The Approachable Guide to Men’s Styles SS22

Annelise Hillmann • Jan 28, 2022

What’s hot in men’s style for Spring / Summer 2022? We reviewed the styles from the runway to the streets and collected the top 4 trends in men’s fashion for this upcoming spring and summer.

1. Prince of Prints

Prints have been popular for the past year for both men’s and women’s fashion, leaning into the Gen Z aesthetics of wild patterns, trippy designs, and bold colors. Style beginners, you can include a bit of pop into your wardrobe with a simple checked shirt in a color you don’t usually wear. Or go all out with something fun and dynamic – maybe your favorite animal on it?

2. Elevated sportswear

After a couple of years of WFH, everyone’s on board for versatility in clothes. Look for streetwear styles that can take you from the gym to the party. A favorite of elevated sportswear: Lululemon’s ABC Pants, which stands for Anti-Ball Crushing, as they were engineered to give "you and the family jewels room to breathe”.

3. Intentional jewelry

Guys on TikTok have fully embraced the dangly earring trend (and we love that), but that’s not for everyone. If you’re looking for a just as trendy alternative, try statement rings – in metal or any other cool material that fits your personality. When pairing rings with outfits, a good rule of thumb is that silver goes with any blue, black, or cool-toned outfit. Gold pieces always go with brown, orange, red, and yellow. Layer rings of different styles for a cool, eclectic feel that looks like you’re well-travelled and multidimensional.

4. Pops of color

Color can be an intimidating wardrobe challenge, and designer brands are going hard with color this season. (See Virgil Abloh’s last Louis Vuitton collection, which is a riot of 90’s throwbacks.) The approachable way to use color this spring / summer is by choosing one or two standout pieces that depart from your normal color scheme. Maybe a bit of pale blue? Or a mint green?
